Strip and Polish
By far the most common thing I am asked to do is repolishing furniture. The lacquer has often deteriorated, has scratches and water marks, and has either sun bleached or just dulled. Most lacquers used since the sixties are not repairable and need removing. I will always use a chemical stripper applied sparingly and never dip strip, which soaks into the wood and damages it and the hardware. I spray the new lacquer to achieve a finish as close to the original as possible.
